NEW YORK, NY - October 4, 2006 - Tourism officials from Martinique will convene a press conference at the "Martinique Magnifique" educational media and trade event on October 17, 2006, which will launch a new brand campaign in concert with a renewed commitment to sales, marketing and public relations through services of The MAAC Group.

"The Martinique Promotion Bureau has always reached out for tourism promotion, however we feel the need to be more proactive and drive Caribbean travelers to our lush island," said Muriel Wiltord Latamie, Director of the USA & Latin America for the MPB. "In joining forces with The MAAC Group, our chairman Mrs. Madeleine de Grandmaison trusts that we will be able to better support and promote the exciting new initiatives and developments on Martinique, including new airlift and hotel expansions," she added. Supporting the Director at the MPB office in NYC is Marketing Manager Valerie Vulcain Augustine, Press Coordinator Christel Coita, and Communication Coordinator Monique Macaire.

The MAAC Group is a progressive travel and tourism-focused consulting firm comprised of veteran industry professionals each specializing in distinct sales, marketing and communications services. The campaign for Martinique will encompass travel industry relations, public relations and specialty sales as follows:
  • Melanie Alexander of The MAAC Group will assist MPB in managing travel industry relations tapping into a long history of sales & marketing destination experience. "Our first initiative will be to focus on the wholesalers and tour operators to ensure the product and support is in place for the retail community, then we will create a variety of niche market opportunities for the consumer," said Alexander.
  • For public relations, SBPR Corp., a full-service communications agency and a strategic partner of The MAAC Group, will represent the island. Led by 15-year travel PR veteran Steve Bennett, SBPR Corp. will focus its promotional efforts on trade and consumer markets across the U.S.
  • Specialty travel will be spearheaded by Kathy Burke, who will focus on niche markets that have special interests in art, culture, nature, and soft adventure.
